Rara, besides it’s pristine beauty, is also Nepal’s biggest lake, and a major Nepal trekking destination for Nepal holidays. Situated at an altitude of 2,980 meters, the geography features some very beautiful alpine scenery. The lake attracts migrant water fowls like teals, pochards and mallards while the resident Impeyan Pheasant (Daphe) is commonly seen. The cultural aspect of this region too is very unique; this is a place where Hindu rituals commingle with Animism.

Detail Itinerary

Access to Rara Lake is from Jumla, which can reached by flight or by walking for around ten days from Surkhet in western Nepal. A trip to the lake and back to Jumla takes just about ten days.
