It can be said of the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu to be the hub of the Himalaya. Flights close to an hour or less from Kathmandu towards the cardinal directions can quickly whisk away the visitor to other neighbouring regions. Fly north, and you will be in Lhasa, Tibet. Fly south to Varanasi or Calcutta in India. Fly eastwards directly to Paro in Bhutan, or Bhadrapur in Nepal from where a few hours drive reaches Darjeeling and Sikkim. Fly west, and you will arrive at Delhi. These are some of the quick getaways.
The next level of connections, also not too many flyings hours away include Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, Dhaka, Dubai, Doha, Hong Kong and Mumbai.
You may also choose to drive overland into Tibet or India from Nepal. |
