This new trek offers everything that makes Bhutan special, with only one item missing: other trekkers! A post-harvest six day low-altitude Winter trek through ecological rich environment that traverses through the home of the Monpa people- the earliest settlers in Bhutan. Witness a cultural history, dating back to the 8th century, as you visit the small traditional villages of the Monpa community, a unique tribal group who continue to practice Shamanism and Buddhism today. You may even catch a glimpse of one of the World rarest primates, the endangered Golden Langur, which can only be found in Bhutan and neighboring Assam. Most tour dates allow for attendance to one of the colorful festivals.

Detail Itinerary

Day 1: Fly to Paro,scenically situated in a pretty terraced valley. Transfer to Thimphu.

Day 2: Tour Punakha Valley, ’s former winter capital. (Optional short walking tours available).

Day 3: Visit Gangtey valley, en-route to Trongsa.

Day 4: Transfer to the trail head and start Trek from Reotala to Nimshong

Day 5: Trek to Nabji village through lush broadleaf forest alive with abundant bird and mammal life.

Day 6: Trek to Korphu village and return for overnight stay.

Day 7: Trek from Nabji to Kubdra Village.

Day 8: Trek to Jangbi Village where you will be welcomed over tea in the orchid garden.

Day 9: Trek to Tongtongfey (trek end point) and transfer to Trongsa.

Day 10: Visit Yathra Weavers in Chumey, in Bumthang and transfer to Jakar.

Day 11: Explore the monasteries and sites of the Bumthang Valley, the spiritual and cultural center of the country.

Day 12: Retrace much of our route across the country to the capital city, Thimphu.

Day 13: Visit and shop in Thimphu.

Day 14: Explore Paro Valley, visiting several sacred sites dotting the beautiful landscape.

Day 15: Hike to Taktsang Monastery (the “Tiger’s Nest”) on a steep trail through the forest.

Day 16: Departure by flight.
